Shopping carts stolen
GROVE CITY, Pa.
Thirty-five shopping carts were stolen from a store last weekend, police said.
Pennsylvania State Police said the carts, valued at $4,725, were taken from County Market in Grove City sometime between 9 p.m. July 25 and 4 a.m. July 27.
Anyone with information is asked to call the state police in Mercer County.
Facing gun charge

A traffic stop led officers to discover two guns in a pair of Pittsburgh Steelers gloves Saturday night.
Harold Handwork, 42, of Salem, was arrested at 8:31 p.m. Saturday on a felony charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and was given a traffic citation for failure to obey a traffic-control device (stop sign), a police report said.
Authorities initially pulled Handwork over for not stopping at a stop sign at Willis Avenue and Hillman Street. Vice officers then brought a dog to the car, and a search revealed two .22-caliber pistols hidden in a pair of Steelers gloves under the driver’s seat, the report said.
Handwork is scheduled to be in Youngstown Municipal Court today.
Felonious assault

Jorge A. Perez, 51, of Youngs-town was arrested at 2:03 a.m. Sunday on a charge of felonious assault after being accused of attempting to stab a city man early Sunday.
Authorities were called by the man who Perez purportedly was trying to stab. While on the way to the caller’s residence, officers saw Perez walking on the street and stopped to talk to him. They saw him throw something, which they later found to be a knife, police said. The victim told police Perez began to yell and scream, and when the victim asked Perez to leave, he attempted to stab the victim.
Trespassing charges

Authorities arrested two men who were cutting insulation Saturday morning.
William B. Tatum, 37, of Poland, was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass, and Zachary Chace was arrested on a charge of possession of drug-abuse instruments, a misdemeanor, and criminal trespass, and had warrants from the Girard and Weathersfield police departments. A report listed their arrest time as 9:14 a.m. Saturday.
The two men are purported to have been taking scrap from a home at 60 Glacier Avenue that was red-taped. The men told police that a person named John gave them permission to take the scrap, but officers discovered a woman owns the residence, and no one is allowed on the property.
A used needle was found in Chace’s pocket, and their car was full of scrap metal, according to the report. Chace was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
