Campbell police charge 2 men with breaking and entering

CAMPBELL

Two city men were charged with breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, on Sunday afternoon.

Michael Zarlingo, 53, of Chambers Avenue and Jack A. Sallaz, 40, of Bright Avenue will answer to that charge at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court.

About 3:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a man entering the back door of a vacant residence in the 10 block of Bright Avenue with a wrench. Upon their arrival, police saw Sallaz and Zarlingo walking quickly down the street and away from the residence; Sallaz was carrying a piece of copper pipe with a hose fitting attached to it.

Salaz told police that he took the pipe from the backyard of the vacant residence, and that it had been attached to a sink in a pile of garbage there. Officers didn't find a sink matching Sallaz's description there, but did see a damaged back door that was left unsecured.

Both Sallaz and Zarlingo were arrested. The pipe and wrench were taken as evidence.
