Ballroom project receives grants

YOUNGSTOWN

The Stambaugh Auditorium Capital Campaign received two grants of $25,000 each for improvements and renovations to the ballroom. Those funds went toward the completed kitchen renovation, the addition of storage closets, and an expanded entryway with marble flooring harvested from the corporate headquarters of the Truscon Steel Building.

The Hine Memorial Fund donated $25,000 to the campaign for the addition of a new wheelchair ramp to the ballroom.

The ballroom renovations are scheduled to be completed in February. They include painting and decor updates, new lighting and carpeting, and improvements to the HVAC system.

The addition of wing walls to the kitchen entrance and a small stage at the north end of the room will enhance the functionality of the space for fundraisers, weddings, lectures and other events. The large, original mirror ball will return to the center of the room.

Established to raise funding for the renovation of the ballroom and other projects to improve Stambaugth Auditorium, the Capital Campaign Committee has raised more than $1.3 million since March 2013.
