Golf outing will honor Jamail E. Johnson

The second annual Jamail E. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will take place Saturday at Pine Lakes Golf Club, 6233 W. Liberty St.
The event is being sponsored by Psi Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
The entry fee is $75 per person, which includes 18 holes and dinner. Check-in time is 9 a.m., and the first tee time is 9:45. The format is a two-man scramble.
There will be cash prizes for first, second and third places.
Other prizes are for hole in one, closest to the pin and longest drive.

Johnson was initiated into Omega Psi Phi on March 21, 2009. He was one of six young men who reactivated the Zeta Gamma Chapter at Youngstown State University.
He was involved in many community activities such as mentoring and tutoring students at Wilson Middle School, initiating HIV awareness programs and establishing toy drives for underprivileged children.
Johnson received his degree in business administration posthumously from YSU in 2011.
Johnson died while trying to protect his friends and fellow students. He leaves a legacy of kindness.
Hole sponsorships and golfers are being sought. The proceeds will go toward scholarships for deserving students who exhibit the four principles that Johnson lived by: manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift.
