YOUNGSTOWN
A 16-year-old male is being treated for a gunshot wound at St. Elizabeth Health Center after reports said he was shot in the inner thigh about 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
Police were called to a home in the 700 block of Lexington Avenue, where the teen told them he was walking on Covington Street when someone in a car looked at him and then fired several shots from a handgun, one of which struck him. He made it to the Lexington Avenue home, where someone called 911.
The owner of the home told police the teen gave a false name and actually is a missing runaway from a Broadway Avenue receiving home, reports said. Neighbors in the area told officers they heard several gunshots, reports said.
Band camp planned

Beginning Monday, city school students in eighth through 12th grade will be able to attend band camp.
The band camp, sponsored by the district’s fine and performing arts program, will be in the band room at the Chaney Campus. The camp will be directed by the district’s new band teacher, Shawn Marko. The band camp will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays Aug. 11-27.
Students must pay a one-time $20 rental fee to cover the use of an instrument at the band camp as well as the band program for the 2014-15 school year. Bus transportation will be provided at designated sites on each side of town.
Parents of YCSD students in grades eight through 12 should receive an informational letter in the mail with more details about the band camp.

Shot the wall
CAMPBELL
A resident in the 300 block of 12th Street notified police of his accidentally discharging a shotgun into his wall just after midnight Thursday. He told officers he thought someone was trying to break into and take his car. Officers arrived at and cleared the scene within a half-hour.
36th annual car show
BOARDMAN
Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club will have its 36th annual car show in Boardman Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.SFlbSunday.
The club’s beneficiary this year is local youngster Jackson Diaz, 2, who was born with a congenital disorder that has resulted in the need for numerous corrective surgeries. Car-show proceeds will be used to help Jackson’s family with the medical bills.
There will be a 50-50 raffle drawing, auction and door prizes at the car show, which is free and has free parking.
Facing charge of domestic violence

An East Indianola Avenue man is in the Mahoning County jail on $50,000 bond after his arraignment in municipal court Friday on a charge of domestic violence.
Police were called to the home of 39-year-old Kyntyn Jones about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and were met by a woman outside who told officers she had stayed with Jones for a few weeks and she came back to his home to get her dog.
Reports said the woman had to shove her way inside, and when she got to the top of the stairs, she was pushed down the steps, breaking her ankle. Reports said Jones admitted shoving the woman, but that he told officers he meant for her to fall down a flight of stairs.
