Canfield earned a berth in the Little League state championship game. Sunday, Canfield will play today’s winner of the losers bracket ’s final between Dover and Galion. Canfield overcame an early 2-0 deficit. In Canfield’s first-at bat, Ryan Petro doubled, Tony Pannunzio walked, Drew Carrocce doubled to score Petro and Gianni Gaetano singled to score Pannunzio to tie the game. Dover took a 3-2 lead in the third inning, but Canfield responded with two runs asCarrocce doubled and Gaetano hit a two-run homer.
Canfield scored two more runs in the fourth inning for a 6-3 advantage as Josh Juliano hit a RBI double then scored on a passed ball. In the fifth inning, Jake Grdic replaced Colin Burdette on the pitching mound and stranded runners at third and first base. Canfield scored four times in the fifth after Carroce doubled and Gaetano, Grdic, Alex Rothwell and Burdette singled.

Ohio Glaciers 20, Long Island Athletics 0 7 innings

The Ohio Glaciers pounded out 18 hits in a mercy-rule victory over the Long Island Athletics in their early game on Friday. Dan Reese pitched seven scoreless innings and threw 75 pitches in the shut out win.
Michigan Rapids 10, Ohio Glaciers 1
The game was scoreless through four innings, until the Glaciers struck first with a run in the fifth. However starting pitcher Hank Schleuter ran out of gas and the bullpen struggled, allowing the Rapids to run away with the win. With the loss, the Glaciers have been eliminated from play.
