Celtic Thunder duo at Drake’s Landing

Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly, members of the vocal group Celtic Thunder, will perform at Drake’s Landing, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Mahoning Valley Ulster Project.

Dance company has open auditions

Spot Light Dance Company will have open auditions for its performance/ competitive company at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

Dancers of all levels, age 5 to 20 and male and female, are eligible.

George Takei with Pgh. Symphony

George Takei, who first came to fame as Mr. Sulu on the original “Star Trek” television show, will join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in hosting the PNC Pops concert “Sci-Fi Spectacular” on Nov. 14, 15 and 16 at Heinz Hall.

Takei — who is an actor, social justice activist, star of the Broadway musical “Allegiance,” host of the AARP-produced YouTube series “Takei’s Take” and subject of the documentary “To Be Takei” — will host and narrate an out-of-this-world concert experience.

Led by Jack Everly, “Sci-Fi Spectacular” will feature music from “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Star Trek,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and more.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 15, and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 16.
