Charged with rape

YOUNGSTOWN

Carlton Dyer, 29, of Youngstown has been indicted on a felony rape charge. Dyer was arrested at 1 a.m. Wednesday and transported to the Mahoning County jail.

According to online court records, Edna Hector also was indicted in the rape. Police alleged she drove the victim to the apartment where the rape occurred.

A police report says officers were called to Pennsylvania Avenue and approached by a crying woman who said she had just been raped and had been able to escape. Hector then approached officers and said the victim had punched her in the face. The victim identified Dyer as the rapist.

The report says the victim was at a bus stop on Wick Avenue when Hector came up in a car and offered her a ride home. They stopped at Hector’s apartment and walked inside where Dyer tried to give her alcohol, then ordered her to undress. The victim refused, but Dyer raped her while an unknown male held her down. The victim told police Hector was laughing and watching.

The victim had two broken nails from trying to get away.

A neighbor of Dyer’s called 911 after the victim knocked on his door. The neighbor then saw Dyer and Hector looking for the victim, according to the report.

Hector told police the victim agreed to have sex with Dyer for $20 “so she could buy crack cocaine,” the report says.
