Simply Slavic fest offers scholarship

YOUNGSTOWN

The Simply Slavic committee is seeking applicants for its academic scholarship. Undergraduate Youngstown State University students who have completed their freshman year and are currently enrolled at YSU are eligible for the $500 scholarship. All applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay on how being Slavic affects their life and substantiate their Slavic lineage.

A panel will select the winners after reviewing the essays, overall academic achievement, faculty recommendations, and involvement in their culture. The deadline to apply is May 23. The winners will be announced at the group’s fourth annual festival June 21 in downtown Youngstown. For information and an application, contact info@simplyslavic.org.

Italian fest seeks man, woman of year

YOUNGSTOWN

The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest is seeking nominations for Italian man and woman of the year. The winners will be introduced Aug. 1 at this summer’s festival, downtown.
