List of YSU presidential candidates narrowed from six to three

YOUNGSTOWN

The list of six candidates to become Youngstown State University’s next president has been reduced to three, following this weekend’s interviews with the search firm.

The names of the three finalists will be released by the university later this afternoon, said Dr. Sudershan Garg, chairman of the YSU Board of Trustees.

He added that the three finalists will individually visit YSU next week — on Sunday afternoon, Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon — and each stay for about one-and-a-half days. Which candidate will come on which day is still being worked out between the candidates and AGB Search of Washington, D.C.

The YSU Board of Trustees will then meet May 8 to choose the final candidate, but Garg said no announcement would come until the contract has been worked out with said candidate.

An announcement will likely come before the end of May.
