Hostage chronology

3:25 p.m. — Three inmates take corrections officer Joe Lynn hostage. Warren police Lt. Martin Gargas calls for a hostage negotiator.

3:35 p.m. — Lt. Jeff Cole of the Warren Police Department arrives at the jail.

4:36 p.m. — Several men wearing U.S. Marshals Service clothing take a battering ram and other devices into the jail from a vehicle.

5:35 p.m. — Armored Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team vehicle arrives.

8:20 p.m. — Three identical cargo vans used by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections enter the jail’s Park Avenue vehicle entrance.

8:30 p.m. — Inmates give up their hostage and are taken into custody.
