The Rebecca Foundation Warren Chapter is hosting the Great Cloth Diaper Change on Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 608 N. Crandon Ave., to try to beat the Guinness World Record. The event has been moved from Boardman to the Niles church to have a larger venue.
Registration is needed by 10:15 a.m. to participate in the diaper change at 11 a.m.
Babies must be changed from a diaper into a 100 percent reusable cloth diaper that can be purchased online or in a retail store. Homemade or training diapers will not be accepted. This is a strict rule from Guinness World Records.
Supervision is required for other children who attend, and only one child, 39 inches or shorter, and one parent are permitted in the changing area for the competition.
Take your own wetbag, extra wipes, changing pad and cloth diapers.
At the signal, adults must remove their child’s diaper and properly put on a reusable diaper.
Participants agree to be photographed for verification to Guinness. Agreement also is made that no liability will be incurred by change hosts, organizers and Guinness World Records as a result of participation in the recording, including medical expenses because of sickness or injury as a result of the event.
Take $1 or more to donate to the Real Diaper Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading the word that cloth diapers are reusable. For each $1 donated, a ticket will be given to be entered into a raffle for prizes. Donations of cloth diapers for the Rebecca Foundation also are welcome.
The first 25 participants to arrive will receive a free swag bag.
There also will be snacks and vendors.
The chapter helped to beat the Guinness record in 2012, when more than 8,000 babies were changed around the world. The Foundation hopes to beat that record this year.
