Pa. eye doctor and daughter charged with pot sales

HAVERTOWN, Pa. (AP) — An eye doctor on Philadelphia’s well-to-do Main Line is charged, along with his daughter, with growing and selling marijuana.

Acting on an anonymous tip, Haverford Township police today said they raided the home of 58-year-old Dr. Paul Ezell and confiscated 27 marijuana plants in various stages of growth.

Police said they also seized $1,200, cellphones, grow lights, scales and dried marijuana.

Ezell, a board-certified ophthalmologist trained at Wills Eye Hospital, and his 23-year-old daughter Victoria Ezell are facing multiple drug-related charges. It could not be immediately determined if they had attorneys.

Medical marijuana is used as a treatment for glaucoma. Authorities did not say whether the alleged drug operation was intended for Ezell’s glaucoma patients.
