Basista makes a splash in Columbus

Neighbors | Submitted.More than 1,400 of the top swimmers from Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia competed at Ohio State University’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavillion during the YMCA Great Lake’s Zone Championships March 23 and 24. Y-Neptune swimmer Noah Basista from Boardman Glenwood Middle School won the 11-12 year old 100 yard breaststroke and the 50 yard breaststroke.

More than 1,400 of the top swimmers from Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia competed at Ohio State University’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavillion during the YMCA Great Lake’s Zone Championships March 23 and 24.

Y-Neptune swimmer Noah Basista from Boardman Glenwood Middle School won the 11-12 year-old 100-yard breaststroke. He followed it up by winning the 50-yard breaststroke, proving to be one of the top breaststrokers in the five state regional area.

In addition to the breaststroke championship titles, Basista placed third in the 100 individual medley and earned a medal spot in all of his other four events over the weekend.
