Staff report

TWINSBURG

The 2014 Twins Days Festival will be Aug. 2 and 3 at the festival grounds, 10270 Ravenna Road.

This annual international event has been declared the “Largest Annual Gathering of Twins in the World” by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The theme of this year’s 39th annual festival will be “Twinstock — Groovy in Twinsburg.” It will celebrate the late ’60s and early ’70s.

The festival annually plays host to thousands of twins from all over the world. It is open to all multiples — identical, fraternal, young and old, twins, triplets, quads — and their families. Non-twins are also welcome.

The festival will begin with the Double Take parade the morning of Aug. 2. Activities during the day will include twins contests, talent show, research area, group photo, entertainment, arts and crafts, booths, amusement rides and games and a fireworks show. Food and souvenirs will be sold throughout the festival.

Activities on Aug. 3 will include the Twins Days 5K Run and Fun Walk, benefitting the Melanoma Education Initiative. During the day, the activities will be the same as Aug. 2, with the exception of the parade and fireworks.

Twins are encouraged to register to be able to participate in the twins-related activities and to be included in the official count. Registration forms can be downloaded at twinsdays.org.

Twins also can register at the festival site.

Registration fees are $15 per set when registering in advance, and $20 per set on-site.

Admission to the grounds for the public, nonregistered twins and families of registered twins is $4 per person per day (free for children 5 and under).
