WARREN
This summer’s River Rock at the Amp tribute band concerts series will include the only regional appearance of Fins to the Left, the popular act that recreates a Jimmy Buffet atmosphere.
That concert will be July 11 at the outdoor venue downtown, with opening act Rudy and the Professionals, a local party ensemble with an island vibe. It will be the only Friday night show in the series.
Ken Haidaris and Marty Cohen of Sunrise Entertainment, promoters of the 12-concert series, announced the lineup Tuesday.
The night after Fins to the Left will see another highlight of the series: 52nd Street/Captain Fantastic, a tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John.
“With the success they had with Elton John in Youngstown, we thought we would bring in this [tribute concert],” said Cohen.
All shows in the River Rock series include a headliner and an opening act. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the opener taking the stage by 5:30 p.m. and the headliner at 8:30.
All concerts will go on rain or shine. The amphitheater is at 321 Mahoning Ave. NW. Admission is $7 for all shows, except the June 14 concert by Pink Floyd tribute band Wish You Were Here, and the July 11 Fins to the Left show, which are both $8.
Children age 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. Tickets can be purchased up until one week before any given show at riverrockattheamp.com; at the Sunrise Inn, 510 E. Market St.; by phone at 330-392-5176; and at the door. Parking is free at Perkins Park, the Franklin Street parking deck, and other public lots.
Patrons can bring lawn chairs, but backpacks, duffel bags, oversized purses, coolers and carry-in food and beverages are not permitted.
Raffle tickets for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that will be signed by film star Kevin Costner will be available at all shows. Costner and his band, Modern West, will come to Packard Music Hall on Tuesday.
