Miss Niles Pageant will return this year
NILES
The Avenue and Main, a nonprofit civic organization, is bringing back the Miss Niles and Little Miss Niles pageant.
In conjunction with Harry Stevens Hot Dog Day on June 29 in downtown Niles, the pageant itself will be on the front steps of the National McKinley Birthplace Museum.
The Little Miss division is for girls age 5 through 8, and the Miss Niles division is for age 15 through 18. There is a registration fee, and each contestant must obtain business sponsors. All applicants must be residents of Niles.
A crown, trophy, sash, floral bouquet and other prizes and gifts will be awarded to each winner. The first two runners-up in each category also will receive a trophy, bouquet and other prizes, as will Miss Congeniality.
Titled winners will participate in the Niles and area parades, grand openings of new businesses in the Niles area, and at least two community events throughout their term.
Registration forms are available at the Eastwood Mall information desk, the Niles McKinley Library, Niles City Schools, and at the Stoneyard Grill and Tavern. Deadline for entry is May 16. For additional information or to receive a printable application via email, contact missnilespageant@aol.com.
