Jarrod Mancine had two hits and scored twice and John McLain added two hits and two RBIs to help the Wooster baseball team beat Hiram 8-5 in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader at Eastwood Field.
Boardman High grad Mark Leone had two hits for Hiram.
In the nightcap, Mancine and Zac Mathie each had two hits, three runs and two RBIs for Wooster in an 18-1 win. Jamie Lackner added two hits, two runs and three RBIs.
Brookfield baseball topples Hubbard
STRUTHERS
Jake and Josh Byers both went 2-for-4, and Josh drove in three runs for the Brookfield High baseball team in a 13-4 win over Hubbard on Saturday at Cene Park.
Lonnie Schell and Dave Wise added two RBIs a piece for the Warriors (1-4). Billy Chemlik had an RBI double for Hubbard (1-5).
Boardman girls track wins Bedford Relays
BEDFORD
Morgan Hambrick won the high jump and joined Logan Mitchell on the winning high jump relay to help the Boardman High girls track team win Saturday’s 12-team Bedford Relays.
Other winners for the Spartans were the shuttle hurdle relay (Hope Sanders, Stephanie DeMain, Jessica Knickerbocker and Mitchell), the distance medley (Emma Schwendeman, Brandi Gatte, Trista Cunningham, and Katelynn Morrell) and the 4x800 relay (Alison Green, Cunningham, Schwendeman and Brandi Gatte).

49ers LB Smith arrested at airport
LOS ANGELES
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport after authorities said he became belligerent during a security screening and threatened that he had a bomb.
The 24-year-old player was randomly selected for a secondary screening at Terminal 1 and became uncooperative with the process, airport police Sgt. Karla Ortiz said. She said he told a TSA agent that he had a bomb before walking to the gate. When airport police officers caught up with him, Ortiz said Smith became uncooperative and was taken into custody.
Pacquiao beats Bradley by decision in rematch
LAS VEGAS
Manny Pacquiao won a unanimous decision in his rematch with Timothy Bradley on Saturday night, avenging his 2012 loss and claiming the WBO welterweight title.
Pacquiao (56-5-2) pursued and peppered the previously unbeaten Bradley around the MGM Grand Garden ring with an aggressive performance recalling the Pacman in his prime. Bradley fought back with counterpunching and elusiveness, but Pacquiao kept up his attack while Bradley (31-1) struggled down the stretch.
Judges Craig Metcalfe and Michael Pernick scored it 116-112 for Pacquiao, while Glenn Trowbridge favored the Filipino congressman 118-110. The Associated Press scored it 116-112 for Pacquiao.
Conway wins wild IndyCar race
LONG BEACH, Calif.
Mike Conway has won the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, grabbing the lead when Scott Dixon was forced to stop for fuel two laps from the finish.
Conway was the surprise winner of a race that took a dramatic turn when leader Ryan Hunter-Reay triggered a seven-car accident 24 laps from the finish.
Hunter-Reay had dominated but was chasing Josef Newgarden after Newgarden exited pit road ahead of Hunter-Reay and James Hinchcliffe. Hunter-Reay tried to make an aggressive pass in the fourth turn and instead hit Newgarden.
