Gun, drug charges

Ernest K. Cottle II, 29, of Youngstown will appear today in Youngstown Municipal Court on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, having a weapon while under disability and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop about 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Wick and Tacoma avenues.

Police saw his vehicle with no license plate at a store on Logan Avenue. Police followed him, and Cottle made a wide right turn onto Wick, where he was stopped.

A passenger, the car’s owner, allowed police to search the vehicle. They found a small bag of marijuana and a loaded .40-caliber gun in the glove box and a loaded magazine between the seats.

He was taken to Mahoning County jail.

Accused of assault

YOUNGSTOWN

Brian Gray, 52, of Youngstown is in Mahoning County jail after police charged him with assaulting a police officer and possession of marijuana after an incident about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Hillman Street and Indianola Avenue.

Police were called by a humane agent about a fight between a man and a woman. Gray fled but was stopped on Hillman. He had attempted to hit the humane agent with a full can of beer, police said.

A search revealed Gray had marijuana in his pocket.

He will appear today in municipal court.

Facing drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN

A traffic stop about 10:24 p.m. Saturday resulted in charges against Caitlin Sexton, 25, of Youngstown after police saw her vehicle go left of center on Woodland Avenue.

Police saw two used hypodermic needles and two bindles of heroin in cigarette wrappers in Sexton’s vehicle. She was arrested and taken to Mahoning County jail, charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug-abuse instruments, an expired license and driving left of center.

She will appear today in municipal court.
