Youngstown Foundation is giving $1.22 million to 22 organizations

The Youngstown Foundation’s distribution committee awarded $1.22 million to 22 organizations.
The grants include Hine Memorial Fund recipients as well as awards from the Mahoning Valley Sports Charities Fund and several donor-advised funds ranging from $500 to $707,710. Also, the foundation gave $330,800 to 27 local nonprofits from its restricted funds.
Founded in 1918, the Youngstown Foundation is the largest community foundation in the Mahoning Valley with more than $100 million in charitable funds, and about $4 million in grants awarded annually.
The 22 organizations and funding amounts are:
Levy Gardens, $10,000 to replace the existing dry sprinkler pipe system.
Mahoning Valley College Access Program, $15,000 in support of program services within the Youngstown city schools.
Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, $25,000 for construction of a recovery supportive housing unit.
Second Harvest Food Bank, $10,000 for capital improvements.
Stambaugh Auditorium, $25,000 for interior renovations to the kitchen and ballroom.
Ursuline Sisters, $20,000 for repairs and replacement of roof over the swimming pool.
Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, $20,000 toward building renovations for the Belmont Avenue facility.
Youngstown Symphony Society, $25,000 for roof repairs and replacement.
Youngstown City School District, $60,000 to fund the final phase of the Quaglia Institute for Student Aspiration, a collaborative program engaging students, parents and staff as part of a comprehensive plan impacting school culture and ultimately improving academic performance.
Trumbull Art Gallery, $10,000 to renovate the organization’s new facility space in downtown Warren from the Mahoning Valley Sports Charities Fund.
Of the 22, seven received money from the Hine Memorial Fund for serving children with diagnosed disabilities. They are:
ACLD Learning Center, $10,000 to provide tutoring scholarships for children with learning disabilities.
ARC of NE Ohio, $8,000 to provide Parent Education Training seminars for families of children with developmental disabilities.
Easter Seals, Youngstown Hearing & Speech, and Operation Search & Help, $707,710 to provide outpatient medical rehabilitation, weekend respite services, outpatient speech pathology, audiology, Deaf Kids enrichment program and caseworker services through the Operation Search & Help Program designed to respond to the needs of individual children with disabilities.
YMCA, $48,000 to help fund aquatic and physical education programs for children with diagnosed disabilities.
Children’s Rehabilitation Center, $75,000 to assist with costs of providing speech, counseling services, physical and occupational therapies for children who reside in Youngstown.
Help Hotline, $34,500 in support of a central information and referral source for parents and caregivers of children with diagnosed disabilities.
Mill Creek MetroParks, $120,000 for the construction of a fully accessible boardwalk and observation deck at the Lily Pond.

Jameson Memorial Hospital RN Scholarship Fund/Mary Bianco Whalen, RN Memorial Fund, $1,000.
