POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
March 30
Theft: An $800 laptop computer was removed from a residence in the 7700 block of Cliffview Drive.
March 31
Theft: Two laptop computers and a related item were stolen from a car in the 7300 block of Oak Drive.
April 4
Theft: A Chablis Lane man reported several screwdrivers, a pair of pliers, a hammer and other small tools stolen.
April 6
Burglary: To a home in the 6300 block of Clingan Road, from which a 47-inch flat-screen TV, two sweatsuits and two pairs of tennis shoes were stolen.
April 8
Theft: A township woman reported a license plate stolen off her vehicle.
BOARDMAN
April 4
Robbery: A bearded gunman about age 30 wearing black pants, a brown hooded sweatshirt and a white hat robbed CVS Pharmacy, 7230 Market St., and demanded a pharmacist fill a bag with various medications. The robber left through a rear stockroom door, a report said.
April 5
Identity fraud: A South Schenley Avenue man discovered a phone account had been opened in his name and with a $1,000 outstanding balance.
Harassment: A Glenbrook Road woman said a man has sent her a series of unwanted text messages.
Theft: A woman reported her purse missing while shopping at a Boardman-Canfield Road grocery store.
Assault: A man alleged that while walking on Shields Road, a nearby resident with whom he had exchanged words struck the accuser’s left forearm with a plastic snow shovel.
Theft: A Boardman woman reported her $600 cellphone stolen while in the 5500 block of Market Street.
Identity theft: A Green Glen Drive man found out his identity had been used without permission to file an income-tax return.
Theft: A woman at a U.S. Route 224 fitness club noticed two gold earrings missing from a locker.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 7000 block of West Boulevard through a rear bedroom window. Stolen were a 50-inch flat-screen TV, various prescription medications, a Wii system, $100 and a computer.
Theft: A 1,200-watt amplifier, two 12-inch subwoofers, an electronic device and several other items were removed from a car in the 7000 block of Tiffany Boulevard.
Assault: A Stow man told police he was punched in the face during an argument at a business in the 400 block of Bev Road pertaining to an apprenticeship.
April 6
Citations: Police responded to suspicious activity on Garden View Drive before citing a 16-year-old Boardman boy on charges of underage possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and violating curfew. A bag of suspected marijuana was in the teen’s boot, a report said.
Stolen property: A traffic stop near Midlothian and Rush boulevards resulted in a felony receiving-stolen-property charge against 21-year-old Edward Kimbrough Jr. of East Midlothian, Youngstown, when, police said, a stolen rear license plate was on his vehicle.
Threats: Steven J. Karafa, 32, was charged with making domestic-violence threats, a third-degree misdemeanor, after his pregnant fiancee, of Hitchcock Road, alleged the Pittsburgh man had threatened during an argument to harm her unborn baby. Karafa also intentionally held open her car door, preventing her from leaving, a report showed.
Theft: Phillip G. Tunanidas, 63, was charged with stealing $78 worth of cologne from Sears in the Southern Park Mall. Tunanidas, of Oakland Avenue, Youngstown, also was wanted on a probation-violation warrant.
Arrest: Officers picked up 57-year-old Raymond Gallaugher at his South Avenue residence. The Boardman man was wanted on a Struthers Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Theft: A Youngstown boy, 14, was charged in the theft of four polo shirts and a pair of jeans from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.
April 7
Recovered property: Two items valued at a total of $375 and thought to have been stolen were found in a pickup truck during a traffic stop in the 7400 block of Market Street.
Criminal damaging: A worker for a Southern Boulevard business discovered what appeared to be a hole from a BB gun in a plate-glass window.
Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her purse missing at Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Two men stole 20 12-packs of soda from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Aggravated menacing: A Paxton Road man told authorities another man threatened him with a firearm on the accuser’s front porch.
Identity fraud: A Tanglewood Drive man told police he received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating someone had tried to use his Social Security number to file an income-tax return.
Harassment: A township woman said she and her husband have been harassed for about a month via phone and social-media websites.
Theft: A Cheriwood Court woman noticed $200 missing from a bedroom.
Identity theft: A South Avenue woman told police that after having filed her income taxes, she received a letter from the IRS stating someone else had used her Social Security number.
Drugs: Tara M. McCarrel of Lemans Drive, Boardman, faced two felony drug-abuse charges and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled her over on Brookwood Road. The 38-year-old McCarrel had a bag of suspected heroin, a small pill box with two pills and a suspected crack pipe, authorities said.
Theft: Aaron D. Scott, 23, of East Midlothian Boulevard, Youngstown, was charged with stealing miscellaneous bakery items from Walmart.
Attempted theft: Someone tried to steal batteries from a bus belonging to Turning Point Counseling Services, 5512 Youngstown-Poland Road.
Theft: Nathanial L. Blair, 19, of Pasadena Avenue, Youngstown, was charged, accused of stealing a $40 radio transmitter from Walmart.
Theft: A 14-year-old Youngstown boy was accused in the theft of a $50 iPhone case from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.
April 8
Burglary: Occurred in the 5000 block of Brookwood Road via a rear door, though it was unknown if anything was missing.
Theft: Jason R. Henninger, 35, of Pineview Drive, Austintown, was charged with theft and possession of drug-abuse instruments after nine DVDs were stolen from Walmart. Henninger, who also was wanted on two warrants, had three hypodermic needles and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use, a report showed.
Burglary: To a residence in the 5000 block of Brookwood Road. Three flat-screen TVs, a Sony PlayStation 3 system, a laptop computer and a pair of tennis shoes were taken.
Criminal damaging: A roofing nail was found under a vehicle’s tire in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.
Assault: A New Middletown man told police an acquaintance pushed him backward, knocking the accuser off balance, at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Theft: A man and a woman stole at least $254 worth of undergarments and other merchandise from Sears.
Theft: A Youngstown woman in the 60 block of Banbury Drive discovered a radio/compact-disc player, a DVD player, 50 DVDs and a comforter missing from her car. The loss came to $1,458.
Theft: An Ohio temporary tag was removed from a car in the 8300 block of Market Street.
Theft: Carmella J. Oliver, 19, of Tyrell Avenue, Youngstown, along with a 17-year-old city girl, was charged with stealing $301.50 worth of boots and clothing from Macy’s.
Burglary: Someone entered a garage in the 50 block of Maple Drive and took two cordless tools valued at $1,000.
Theft/drugs: U.S. marshals transferred custody to township authorities of 34-year-old Krista I. Koloskee of Fairway Place, Warren, who was wanted on charges of theft, possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, and on a Montana warrant, after nine DVDs were stolen from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road. Koloskee also had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use, police said.
April 9
Domestic violence: Jennifer N. Dirocco, 26, of Market Street, Boardman, was charged with the crime after a man alleged Dirocco had punched him as she demanded various articles of clothing, then choked the accuser and, during the altercation, slammed a door on his arm.
Assault: A Beech Avenue woman alleged her boyfriend grabbed her hair and knocked her to the floor during an argument.
