The Hilltop Elementary School PTO hosted its annual Family Fun Night with a ‘Minute to Win It’ theme at Canfield Village Middle School March 28. The interactive theme was designed for parents and children to play the games together to win prizes. In addition to the games, the evening included dinner and a Dairy Queen sundae bar.

This year, the event was moved to the Canfield Village Middle School so students and parents could have more room to play. The event utilized both gymnasiums, the cafeteria and hallways.

Minute to Win It games included balloon bash, race in place, toilet paper hike, defying gravity, breakfast scramble and stack attack. Parent/child teams competed against the clock to complete a task and the top performing team at each game won a gift card.

The children also could have their faces painted, get a temporary tattoo, jump in the bounce-arounds and dress up to have their pictures taken in a photo booth.

Hi-5 the clown was in the gym making balloon animals and freshly popped popcorn was available for purchase.

The event was chaired by Kelly Warren and is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year with 100 percent of the proceeds going back to the school. Several Hilltop PTO members were also on hand to help with all aspects of the event.

Lining the hallways outside the back gym were baskets for the Chinese auction, which was chaired by Tina Wilkins.

Each class at the school was assigned a theme for a class basket, such as Ohio State, candy overload, gift cards, lottery tickets, snack attack, family movie night and Canfield Cardinals, and students were invited to donate items to be included in the basket. More than 20 local businesses also donated items to be included in the auction.

Attendees gathered at the end of the evening to find out if they were a lucky winner of one of the Chinese auction baskets.

As the students exited the building at the end of the night, they were given a treat bag as a parting souvenir of their evening.
