Boardman police arrest man on theft, drug charges


BOARDMAN — Boardman police arrested a 42-year-old Pennsylvania man after he was accused of stealing from Wal Mart while having drugs in his possession.

Keith Dishler is charged with a misdemeanor offense of theft and a felony in the fifth-degree charge of possession of a controlled substance.

He was taken to the Mahoning County Jail, but has been released.

Police were called to Wal Mart at about 4 p.m. Thursday for the report of a theft.

Upon arrival, police were told by loss prevention that Dishler had concealed miscellaneous lawn and power tools valued at $105.03 and then attempted to exit the store, according to a police report.

Dishler was searched for the officer's safety and wrapped inside a small piece of newspaper was a brown substance suspected to be heroin in his pocket.

"Oh, I forgot I had that," Dishler told police. "It's just a little bit of heroin."

There was a suspected 0.2 grams of heroin.

Dishler has a court date in Boardman at 8:30 a.m. April 15.
