CANFIELD

Township trustees are concerned about lack of space at Dean Hill Cemetery.

Officials said Tuesday that there are only three vacant plots.

Administrator Keith Rogers said the township could use Geographic Information Systems to electronically plot additional land that the township owns but has yet to plot.

Trustee Marie Cartwright said the trustees should look at bringing in a surveyor to determine how many plots are on the open land, but fellow Trustee Brian Governor voiced his concern over the lack of plots available.

Trustee Stephen Maszczak said the township is “looking at the portion that’s available right now, and if any adjoining property becomes available, we would look at that.”

Officials also discussed ongoing technology upgrades, specifically implementing cloud-storage services. “From a cost standpoint, it makes sense to go to the cloud,” Governor said. It’s “safe.”

Trustees discussed using Google’s cloud-storage system, but said that doesn’t mean they are set on using Google’s software and plan on having future discussions before making a decision.

This is in addition to a recent purchase of tablet devices for trustees. They looked at buying or leasing a new copier, printer and fax machine. Cost to buy is $6,785, and leasing for 16 months wold be $124 per month.

The township approved the purchase of a projector and screen for $429.68. It will be used to display the agenda during township meetings and for other departmental meetings. Governor said he “was kind of surprised” that the township didn’t already have a projector.
