Five memorable quotes from David Letterman, who announced last week that he will retire from

Five memorable quotes from David Letterman, who announced last week that he will retire from “Late Show” next year:

v “Joaquin, I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight.”: Letterman to Joaquin Phoenix after the “Walk the Line” star’s bizarre 2009 interview in which he claimed he was dropping acting to become a hip-hop musician.

v “While I was gone, I had quintuple bypass surgery on my heart. Plus, I got a haircut.”: Letterman during his monologue on his first show after heart surgery in 2000.

v “I think the longer we just sit here, the more uncomfortable it will make Jay.”: Letterman after sharing awkward silence with Conan O’Brien after the fellow talk-show host’s mix-up with Jay Leno in 2012.

v “How’d you like being in jail?”: Letterman to Paris Hilton, after her lockup in 2007.

v “The creepy stuff was that I have had sex with women who worked for me on this show. Now, my response to that is, ‘Yes I have.’ ...Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would, especially for the women.”: Letterman addressing an extortion scandal that led him to bare his infidelities on the show in 2009.

“Save My Bakery” (8 p.m., Food): Family-owned bakeries hope to make some dough in this reality series.

“Dark Minds” (9 p.m., Investigation Discovery): Three people appear to have vanished in an Idaho theater, but maybe they’re just stuck to the floor.

“Preachers’ Daughters” (9 p.m., Lifetime): I have no idea what praise dancing is, but I’m sure there will be a competitive reality show about it soon.

“CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION” (10 P.M., CBS): “CSI” has explored lots of icky fetishes, but things get really tasteless tonight when the team tries to hunt down a killer who eats his victims. Bon appetit?
