Bond set for man arrested after chase

Bond was set at $37,500, 10 percent cash or surety, in Campbell Municipal Court on Monday for the Youngstown man arrested late Saturday on a host of charges after a police chase.
Among the felony and misdemeanor charges that Richard L. Williams, 41, of Lyden Street, faces are the illegal conveyance of drugs into a correction facility, carrying concealed weapons, possession of cocaine and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in marijuana and drugs, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
Williams also was charged with several traffic violations.
His next appearance in Campbell Municipal Court is May 13.
According to the police report, Williams swerved into oncoming traffic on U.S. Route 422 at 11:40 p.m. Saturday. Police tried to pull him over, but he fled; they eventually caught up with him in the parking lot of Big Dude’s Bar at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Center Street.
Williams resisted arrest, and police used their dog and a stun gun to help subdue him.
A search of Williams and his car produced $235 in cash, 2.6 grams of suspected cocaine, 4.2 grams of suspected marijuana, a spring-assisted knife and a loaded .40-caliber handgun.
