MVHS presents Civil War music

MERCER, Pa.

The Mercer County Historical Society will present “Music from the Civil War” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at its headquarters, 119 S. Pitt St. The program will be presented by the Venango Brigade, featuring Steve Johnston on the tin whistle and John Tenney on the minstrel bones. Book fest plans event for children

The Plant the Seed to Read Children’s Book Festival will present Reading Road Trip, a day of guest authors and readers, storytellers, puppets and hands-on activities, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave. Children can get their picture taken with television characters Daniel Tiger and Princess Presto; parents must bring own camera. Opera is seeking board members

Opera Western Reserve is seeking candidates for three-year terms on its board of trustees. Elections will be at the June 10 board meeting.
