‘Chip in for Chris’ today at Boardman High

The “Chip in for Chris” spaghetti dinner will be held from noon to 6 p.m. today at the Boardman High cafeteria. The event benefits former Boardman teacher and basketball coach Christine Terlesky, who is battling ALS. Cost is $7 for adults. Kids under 5 are free.

Huntington, Hurdle get contract extensions

PITTSBURGH

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle and general manager Neal Huntington agreed to new deals on Saturday that will keep them in Pittsburgh through at least 2017, giving the Pirates the kind of internal stability they haven’t enjoyed in decades. Financial terms were not disclosed. The contracts include a club option for 2018. Both Huntington and Hurdle were in the final year of their current deals.

Youth Masters bowling finals are Saturday

The championship finals of the Youngstown Youth Masters bowling tournament is scheduled Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m., at Holiday Bowl in Struthers.

Boys finalists are Jake Wagner, Kyle Condrick, Kyle Sharisky, Paul Harris, Nick Tancabel, Andrew Letscher, Thomas Harcarik, and Jay King. Girls finalists are Lynette Seebacher, Katie Viglio, Jessica Halas, Miranda Romano, Alexis Cloud, Krystal Bates, Danielle Kyser, and Clara Angeloff.

Preliminary rounds were rolled at McKinley Lanes, Holiday Bowl and at Wedgewood Lanes.

Women’s City and No Tap bowling events set

The 71st annual Youngstown-Salem Women’s Bowling Association City Tournament & 15th annual 9 Pin No Tap Tournament will run April 23-May 3 at Wedgewood Lanes. Craft, Smith appear at Eastwood Mall store

Former Ohio State basketball stars Aaron Craft and Lenzelle Smith will appear and sign autographs April 13 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Everything Buckeyes store at the Eastwood Mall. Autographs are $20 for Craft, $8 for Smith and $25 for a super ticket which includes both autographs.

Janci, Beatty team for Scotch Doubles crown

Lisa Janci and Felicia Beatty captured the Youngstown-Salem 600 Club’s Scotch Doubles Tournament last month at Wedgewood Lanes. Candy Latimer and Toni Shina were second, Dana Learn and Sonya Morgan third and Shannon Diver and Sandi Guerrieri fourth.

Football camp set for city schools students

Youngstown City Schools, in partnership with the Youngstown State University football staff, will host its sixth annual football camp April 26 at Stambaugh Stadium. Former PGA Tour veteran Jerry McGee will be the guest speaker at the Curbstone Coaches weekly luncheon Monday at noon at Luciannos Caf in Austintown.

California Chrome, Wicked Strong win

California Chrome romped to a 51/4-length victory in the $1 million Santa Anita Derby in California and Wicked Strong pulled a 9-1 upset in the $1 million Wood Memorial at Aqueduct on Saturday in two major Kentucky Derby prep races. Rebel Stakes winner Hoppertunity was second to California Chrome and Robert Lewis Stakes winner Candy Boy was another 31/2 lengths back in third. In the Wood, previously undefeated Samraat was second, 31/2 lengths back and a nose ahead of the 8-5 favorite Social Inclusion.
