Submit information for Holy Week, Easter

The Vindicator will run a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Palm Sunday, April 13; Holy Thursday, April 17; Good Friday, April 18; Holy Saturday, April 19; and Easter, April 20.

The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Publication will be next Saturday.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb, the day, time, type of service, your name and a phone number for verification.

Parish council

BOARDMAN

Phillip G. Passas, a retired Austintown Fitch High School teacher, was elected president of St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Ave., where the Rev. Thomas Constantine is pastor.

Other parish council officers are William Matsouris, vice president; Daniel Cvercko, treasurer; attorney Plato Kalfas, secretary, who is immediate past president; and George Denney, financial secretary. Also serving on council are Vic Mauro, Dr. Nick Kreatsoulis, Antoun Dibo, Anthony Orologas, John Gulgas and Nick Murdock.

Passas has been a council member for many years. Since 1915, he is the only person to serve as president for more than six terms. He is a member of American Hellenic Progressive Association-Lincoln Chapter 89, Mahoning County Civil War Round Table, Austintown and Mahoning County Retired Teachers Associations, Kalymian Society and Omicron Delta Phi honorary education society.

He is married to the former Syliva Lyras, choir director at St. John’s since 1975. They have two children and three granddaughters.

Anniversary event

YOUNGSTOWN

Everyday Life Women’s Ministry will mark its first anniversary during a program from 1 to 3 p.m. next Saturday at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave.

There will be speakers, music and refreshments.

The Rev. Josephine Haracpio will conduct a Passover Seder when Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries, an interdenominational ministry, meets April 14 at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park, 325 Boardman-Poland Road. There is no meal.

Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with ministry at 7.

Gospel of Mark

Allan Mosher, professor of music at Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University, will present the Gospel of Mark at 7 p.m. Sunday and April 13 at Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, Route 224.

In concert

CORTLAND

The Tacketts wil be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road.

The trio released “Miracles Never Cease” last year. Jeff, Jason and Sarah Tackett sing progressive southern and contemporary gospel music. She is a former Miss Ohio and talent winner in the Miss America Pageant.

A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be accepted.
