Shooting suspect arrested in Georgia
YOUNGSTOWN
A man wanted in a March 15 shooting on South Avenue was arrested Friday by U.S. marshals in Stone Mountain, Ga.
Youngstown Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said Dashonti Baker, 22, was arrested in connection with the shooting of Jaquez Brown, 21.
Brown was in an SUV with three other people in the parking lot of a South Avenue store when he was shot by someone in another vehicle who fired several rounds into the SUV.
A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Baker on Thursday on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault with firearm specifications. He is expected to be arraigned in common pleas court when he returns from Georgia.
Warren woman charged after crash
YOUNGSTOWN
A Warren woman who drove a pickup truck into a utility pole early Friday on the city’s East Side has been charged in municipal court with drunken driving and reckless operation.
Katie M. Wells, 30, of Highland Avenue Southwest, was westbound on Himrod Avenue when the truck she was driving went left of center and sideswiped an eastbound car before running into a utility pole at Bruce Street at 1:05 a.m., police said.
Neither Wells nor the driver or passenger in the car had to be transported to a hospital, according to the police report.
Owners report dogs as stolen

Police are investigating the possible theft of two pitbull puppies.
About 11:45 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a Chambers Street residence, where both the 45-year-old homeowner and a 29-year-old Robinson Road resident claimed their dogs, which are siblings, had been stolen.
The Robinson Road resident said her dog was at her house when an unidentified person or people entered it and took the dog. She told police the door was unlocked.
The Chambers Street resident said her dog had been outside of the house, and she last saw it running up Jackson Street.

Laptop, DVD theft
AUSTINTOWN
A laptop and several DVDs were reported taken from a car overnight Tuesday.
A resident of Berry Blossom Drive reported to police the items and an undetermined amount of change were taken from the vehicle sometime between 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9:20 a.m. Wednesday. The driver’s- side door was unlocked, the resident told police.
