Vice squad serves warrants at three homes

Members of the police department’s vice squad served search warrants at three homes Wednesday, investigating drug activity.
At 21 E. Avondale Ave. about 5 p.m., Michelle Lee, 21, was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Jefforna Thompson, 25, was arrested on the charge of trafficking in drugs and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
Inside officers found small amounts of heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and a digital scale.
At 2634 Hunter St. at 7:20 p.m., Vernon Johnson, 20, was cited for possession of drugs. Inside police found a pill, a marijuana cigar and $165 in cash.
At 1318 Short St., police found heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana and more than $450 in cash. Special Sierra Strickland, 25, was cited for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, reports said. Maurice Dow, 57, was arrested on drug charges but was later released, and no charges were filed in municipal court.
