Laird Technologies to move to Warren

Staff report

WARREN

The Delphi Corp. building here will become the new headquarters for Laird Technologies.

The company announced Thursday that it is moving its Sharpsville, Pa.-based wireless automation and controls business to the city.

The headquarters for Cattron-Theimeg Inc., which does business as Laird, will relocate to the building formerly occupied by Delphi Corp. at 655 N. River Road, said Sarah Boyarko, vice president of economic development at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.

After exploring expansion opportunities in Pennsylvania, Laird reached out to the regional chamber, and the parties had been working together for about a year, she said.

“This is a great opportunity for the city of Warren,” which has lost revenue from RG Steel and the General Electric factory, Boyarko said.

Laird, which employs about 150 in Sharpsville, expects to add jobs at the Warren site, which will staff positions in manufacturing, sales, research and development, finance, after-market service and customer support.

Laird received a variety of incentives, including a tax package from the city and a nine-year job-creation tax credit from the state.

“We are extremely pleased that Laird Technologies has seen the city of Warren as a good place to do business,” Mayor William “Doug” Franklin said in a written statement, adding he was looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Laird and the city.

The company expects the move to be complete by early summer.
