Bond set at $500K for suspect in Struthers homicide
STRUTHERS — Bond was set at $500,000 today for the man accused of fatally shooting 34-year-old Matthew Molnar in their 145 Renee Drive home early Thursday.
Matthew Alexander, 26, is a flight risk, said Detective Jeff Lewis of the Struthers Police Department, which is why the high bond — set during Alexander's arraignment in Judge James Dunn's courtroom at Struthers Municipal Court — remained despite an attorney's request otherwise. Alexander is charged with murder.
Lewis added that though Alexander was living with Molnar at the Struthers residence at the time of the shooting, most of his family lives in Phoenix, Ariz. He said the case will be presented to the Mahoning County grand jury, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for not long afterward.
