BGMS wins robotics competition
Boardman Glenwood Middle School recently won the Northeast Ohio Robotics competition at Youngstown State University. The competition culminates in an autonomous robotics competition focusing on learning science, engineering, technology and math, as well as information and communication technologies.
A team of students is asked to build an autonomous programmable LEGO robot to perform defined tasks. The competition is divided into five categories or events: technical journal, oral presentation, vehicle presentation, game 1 and game 2.
The team finished in both competitive games where their robot was required to perform specific tasks. The students took third place in the technical journal portion of the competition and second for the oral presentation to give them the overall crown as the only school to have their robot accurately complete all the required functions. The team consisted of Ivan Bosnjak, Shawn Korpi, Mark Moradian, Pranav Padmanabhan, Mariah Ricciardi and Neha Shah.
The BGMS Robotics team was coached by Scott Lenhart and Gina Ries.
