Southington woman stabbed by son dies

The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has conducted an autopsy and is investigating the death on Saturday of Lisa M. Frye, 47, who was stabbed by her son, Thomas Starr, last June in Southington.

Frye, who had other medical problems in addition to those associated with the stabbing, died at her mother’s house in Youngstown. The cause of death is pending further studies.

Starr, 29, stabbed Frye in the neck and used the same knife to kill his stepfather, Jeff Westfall, 53, at the home where the three lived on state Route 305 in Southington.

Starr was sentenced in February to at least 30 years in prison for the crimes.

Frye did not attend Starr’s sentencing hearing. Family members said she had experienced numerous medical problems since the attack.
