New scoreboard for Poland school district

Come next fall, Poland athletes will have a state-of- the- art, $110,000 scoreboard to call their own at Dave Pavlansky Field.
“It’s outstanding,” Poland Athletic Director Brian Banfield said. “It is exciting. We will be able to showcase our student athletes.”
The school district is using an advertising campaign to fund the new scoreboard. The school district will front the cost of the scoreboard first, but then it will be paid off through the advertising. There will be advertisements along the side panels of the scoreboard, a full-page advertisement from those companies in the programs and a commercial on the scoreboard. The idea is to renew the advertisements to continue to generate about $21,000 to $23,000 for stadium upgrades or other athletic-facility upgrades.
The field and new scoreboard will be used for football, soccer and track.
The older scoreboard was built in 1989 and updated in 2002 with a message board, which quit working in 2012. The district had to deal with numerous occasions when the scoreboard blacked out in the middle of games.
The new scoreboard will include a video LED board, instant-replay capability, commercials, player profiles and real-time track updates. The new board will be installed in June.
New courses for video production also will be an option.
“It is very exciting for the game day environment,” Banfield said.
