BERLIN CENTER
A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth by Jon Timko scoring Ian Hames sent Western Reserve to a walk-off victory over Jackson-Milton. Tristan Bova threw seven innings, allowing one run and one walk, but gave way to Nick Allison in extra innings. Allison pitched a perfect eighth and ninth allowing just a walk and striking out four batters. Parker Clegg went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Blue Devils. Nate Clark was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Bluejays.
Mineral Ridge 6, Lowellville 1
NILES
Greg Strohmeyer threw a complete game, striking out eight and walking one, as Mineral Ridge topped Lowellville. Jared Gherardi had two RBIs and Mac White had two hits and a RBI for the Rame (2-0), which scored four runs in the second inning with two outs. Aaron Osman was charged with the loss striking out three batters and walking two.
Niles 10, Liberty 0
NILES
Niles pitchers Kyle Paden and Brennon Matig combined to allow just two hits in a five-inning shutout victory over Liberty. James Tate had two hits and three RBIs, as the Red Dragons scored seven runs over the first three innings. Eric Weimer pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up 10 runs on nine hits and seven walks.
Poland 18, Howland 6
HOWLAND
Poland pounded out 18 runs on 12 hits against Howland. The Bulldogs (1-1) scored nine runs in the second inning behind a 3-for-4 effort from Chase Knodle at the plate. Knodle scored three runs and Ricky Svetlak had a double and four RBIs. Nick Maillis also drove in four runs. Maillis had three hits while Svetlak and Pat Carlozzi had two apiece. Kyle Watson drove in three runs and Evan Steele had two hits for Howland.
McDonald 18, Sebring 1
McDONALD
Mike Schuller had three hits and Brian Kelzer, Kenny Greaver and Cameron Ifft each had a double in the Blue Devils’ victory. McDonald (1-1, 1-0 ITCL) used a 10-run fourth inning to put the game away. Winning pitcher Garrett Mulrooney pitched a three-hitter and struck out eight. Kelzer, Greaver, Ifft, Tommy Rebraca, Mike Soots and Ben Carkido each had two hits for the Blue Devils.
Southeast 5, Alliance 1
PALMYRA
Nick Sigworth hit a three-run home run and Jash Lock pitched a two-hitter and struck out 12 as the Pirates beat the Aviators. Cory Proctor singled twice for Southeast (1-0). Tyler Copeland singled twice for Alliance (1-1).
Springfield 6, Columbiana 3
NEW MIDDLETOWN
Joey Wrask singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Hunter Snyder also had a single and double for the Tigers (2-1, 1-0 ITCL). Jordan Peterson worked five innings and struck out five for the victory.
Berkshire 1, Garfield 0
BURTON
Ryan Acker’s RBI double provided the only run of the game as the Badgers (1-0) beat the G-Men (0-1). Brandon VanderMaas scattered five hits for the victory, outdueling Garfield’s Nick Kaiser. Nick Jurcevic singled twice and had a double for the G-Men.

CAMPBELL
Stephan Elash stole four bases and scored our runs and Ryan Luciano and senior Daron Clinkscale each had two hits apiece in the Red Devils’ season-opening victory. Winning pitcher Mike Jones allowed only earned run and struck out eight.
South Range 2, Crestview 0
BEAVER TOWNSHIP
Tyler Baird threw a one-hitter, fanning 10 and allowing just one walk, for the Raiders (2-0, 1-0 ITCL Tier 1). Jake Ferris of Crestview (0-1, 0-1) also was effective, scattering eight hits and three walks and allowing single runs in the first and fourth innings. Bill Goodall doubled and singled and Dan Macinga had two singles to lead the South Range offense.
East Palestine 13, Lisbon 7
EAST PALESTINE
Alec Dumbauld had three hits and four RBIs and Drew Wilson hit two doubles and drove in three runs to lead the Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0 ITCL Tier 1) who scored nine runs in the first inning on six hits. Ricky Telischak added three singles and Jaret Spratt, the winning pitcher, added a double and a single. Frank Morrell had two hits for Lisbon.
Champion 13, Grand Valley 1
CHAMPION
Chris Miller scattered four hits and struck out four in pitching the win, and contributed two runs batted in for the Golden Flashes (2-0). Chris Steigerwald also drove in two runs for Champion which benefitted from 10 walks and two hit batters by pitchers for Grand Valley (0-2).
Cardinal Mooney 15, Springfield 3
NEW MIDDLETOWN
Cardinal Mooney collected 11 hits over just four innings in a big win over Springfield on Tuesday. Leadoff hitter Andrew Armstrong went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Joe Cunningham gave up just three hits over five innings, striking out four to pick up the win for the Cardinals (2-0).
