Youngstown records first traffic fatality for 2014
YOUNGSTOWN — Police say the death of a motorcyclist Tuesday is the city’s first traffic fatality of 2014.
Officer Brian Booksing said the motorcyclist was traveling south on Interstate 680 about 5:45 p.m. when the man lost control on the Glenwood Avenue exit at High Street and struck a guardrail. He was thrown off the vehicle, Booksing said.
Booksing declined to name the motorcyclist today, saying he was not sure if the Mahoning County Coroner’s office had notified the family. A spokeswoman for the coroner’s office said she was not sure when they would release the man’s name.
Police are looking at speed as a factor in the accident, Booksing said.
