Police arrest two in connection with Tuesday homicide

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested a pair of brothers late Tuesday afternoon in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Maurise Kerns early Tuesday morning at a vacant 537 Idora Ave. home.

Lt. Doug Bobovnyik of the Detective Bureau said Bralin Allen, 25, was arrested on lower Glenwood Avenue and Breandre Allen, 26, was arrested at an Akron hospital.

Both are in the Mahoning County jail and are expected to be arraigned in Municipal Court today.

Kerns was found shot to death on the porch of the home about 3 a.m. with a revolver lying nearby. Bobovnyik said Breandre Allen was wounded in the foot in an exchange of gunfire with Kerns, then drove himself to Akron and told hospital officials there he had been wounded in a robbery in Akron. Police had him as a suspect and found out he was in the hospital, Bobovnyik said.
