Kent State students advised to stay put after shot fired near Bowman Hall

Police are investigating a report of a shot fired at a Kent State University.
A university spokeswoman says a male suspect fired a single shot into the ground at about 9 p.m. today near Bowman Hall, an academic building on the school’s main campus.
No injuries were reported.
The university is advising people to shelter in place as police continue to search for the suspect, who was reportedly carrying a silver handgun.
KSU police are handling the investigation. No other details were immediately available.
Kent State is a public research university with eight campuses in the northeast Ohio region.
