Fire at former school causes $2,500 in damage

YOUNGSTOWN

A fire at a former school building being used for storage caused $2,500 in damage.

Crews were called to 1387 Commonwealth Ave., which was also the former Odyssey School of Possibilities, after police responded to a burglar alarm and found a fire inside about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Reports said the fire was in a classroom where several books had been placed in a pile and ignited. Police found a window that had been tampered with in another classroom that may have allowed someone to get inside.

There were no injuries. Reports said the city school district now uses the building for storage.
