Farewell prayer service for maternity at St. E's Youngstown is Thursday morning
YOUNGSTOWN — The maternity staff at St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., will have a farewell prayer service at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, on the seventh floor of the health center near the A elevators.
Maternity services at Humility of Mary Health Partners have changed as labor and delivery and mom/baby units have moved to St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center and will officially open 7 a.m. Monday.
The same date and time will also mark when laboring mothers will no longer be admitted to the labor and delivery unit in Youngstown; the hospital expects the last baby born at St. Elizabeth in Youngstown will leave the hospital next Wednesday.
The farewell prayer service will honor the history of maternity services at St. Elizabeth and prepare for the transfer of services. Current and past employees of the maternity units will gather to remember and say farewell to the place where almost 2,000 babies were born last year, including 59 sets of twins and three sets of triplets, according to a HMHP news release.
