Annual Farm Animal Baby Shower Sunday

CANFIELD

Mill Creek MetroParks will have a Farm Animal Baby Shower from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

Families are invited to meet new arrivals to the MetroParks Farm including triplet goats, twin lambs and bottle-baby calf (all born this spring), chicks, ducks, turkeys, geese and more. There also will be mother animals that still are expecting. Bring cameras for photo opportunities. Cake and punch will be served while supplies last.

The baby shower, presented by WFMJ/WBCB, also is the official opening of the barns at the MetroParks Farm for the season. Through October, the barns will be open for the public to view animals from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Grant will fund BackPack Program

YOUNGSTOWN

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley has been selected to receive a $4,000 grant as part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Restaurants Foundation Inc., the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants.

The grants program, now in its third year, empowers each restaurant in the Darden family of brands to help award a $1,000 grant to support local community programs.

The donation will enable Second Harvest to continue operating the BackPack Program at Campbell, Jefferson and Willard elementary schools.

Darden’s Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Eddie V’s and Yard House brands participated in the program.

Legal Aid HelpLine reopens today

Community Legal Aid’s HelpLine reopens today after a three-day closure, and its hours are changing.

The new hours are Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. The HelpLine number, 800-998-9454, remains the same.

Interviews Thursday for Liberty chief

LIBERTY

Liberty Township trustees will have a special meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Administration Building Hearing Room, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road. The meeting will adjourn to executive session so the board can conduct interviews for the fire chief’s position.

Weather siren test Thursday

HERMITAGE, PA.

The Hermitage Fire Department will conduct its monthly test of the area’s weather warning sirens at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The test will include an activation of the Clark, Farrell, Sharpsville, West Middlesex and Wheatland weather sirens. Citizens are asked to disregard the sirens during the test.
