STRUTHERS

The Struthers School Foundation for Educational Excellence is planning a “Luau for Learning” event for May 22 at Knoll Run Golf Course in Lowellville. The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., and will feature food, a cash bar, a silent auction and music provided by Thomas John of 106.1 WBBG.

Foundation President Danny Thomas Jr. said he hopes the event will not only raise the foundation’s visibility in the community, but also add to the amount of grant awards it can distribute next year. This year, the nonprofit organization gave checks totaling almost $10,500 to four grant recipients; the money will be used to purchase Chromebooks and charging stations, calculators, tablets and informational reading recovery books.

The foundation was founded in 2000 to fund extended educational activities not provided by the school district. For information, visit www.struthersfoundation.com.
