YOUNGSTOWN

The Baptist Pastors’ Council of Youngstown and Vicinity will commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King during a public memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the rotunda of the Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St.

Keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. William King, pastor of Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.

Soloist is Sophia Brooks. The Rev. Kevin Crum is the council’s president.

Weapons stolen

YOUNGSTOWN

A rifle and a .38-caliber revolver were stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Hubbard Road on Sunday evening.

The 62-year-old man who lives there told police he was gone for an hour, and when he returned about 10:55 p.m. he found his back door pushed open and the guns gone.

The guns were the only items taken from the home, reports said.

House ransacked

YOUNGSTOWN

Police say $200 in change and a .22-caliber revolver were taken from a Cain Street home sometime over the weekend.

The homeowner told police he left about 9 p.m. Saturday and when he returned at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, he saw his front door wide open and found his upstairs ransacked.

A watch also was taken, reports said.
