Campbell police arrest four on drug charges
CAMPBELL
City police arrested four people on multiple drug charges, and seized more than 5 grams of marijuana and 2.5 grams of crack cocaine, on Monday.
At 4:50 p.m., police stopped Joshua Eril Gore, 21, of Chambers Street in Campbell, for failing to stop at the intersection of Madison Street and Wilson Avenue. Gore was then found to have a suspended driver's license, and was arrested.
During a search of his car, police found a bag containing 1.1 grams of suspected marijuana and a glass marijuana smoking pipe. Gore was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension, and was also cited for the stop-sign violation.
Shortly after 6 p.m., police pulled over Aaron D. Johnson, 32, of North Meridian Road in Youngstown, for neglecting to stop at the intersection of Jackson Street and Murray Avenue.
Police immediately noticed a clear, ripped plastic bag on the car's floor, and asked for Johnson's permission to search it. They found approximately 0.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine.
Both Johnson and his passenger — 51-year-old Sharon R. Davenport, of 114 Jackson Street in Campbell — were charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
At 11:47 p.m., officers on patrol noticed a man and a woman walking in between buildings on private property owned by the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority; upon spotting police, the man and the woman turned around and headed in the opposite direction.
Police stopped them and asked if they were YMHA residents, to which they responded that they weren't and were waiting for a ride.
Both consented to a search, and officers found 4.4 grams of suspected marijuana and 1.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine on the man — identified as Phillip Junior Austin, 30, of East Ravenwood Avenue in Youngstown. Austin was charged with two counts of possession of drugs, as well as criminal trespass. Nothing was found on the woman.
