Woman killed in crash

FREDONIA, PA.

A 32-year-old Fredonia woman was killed after the car in which she was a passenger hit a transformer pole broadside, partly ejecting her, Sunday morning on Delaware Road near Folk Road.

Chandra N. Kodali was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:25 a.m. crash; and the car’s driver, Jeffrey J. Benninghoff, 29, also of Fredonia, was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with life-threatening injuries, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Benninghoff was westbound on Delaware Road approaching Folk Road when he swerved to avoid a westbound bicyclist on the Delaware Road berm, lost control of the car and spun into the pole, police said.

Benninghoff and Kodali were pinned and had to be extricated.

2 injured in car crash

CLARKS MILLS, PA.

Two Pittsburgh men were flown by helicopter to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of what Pennsylvania State Police described as moderate injuries after a Sunday afternoon collision on Interstate 79 southbound, about a half mile south of state Route 358 in New Vernon Township.

Flown to the Pittsburgh hospital were Alan R. Boynton, 81, who was driving a minivan, and his passenger, Jeffrey Boynton, 53.

As the minivan was about to pass a car, a Jeep apparently moved to the left lane in front of the minivan, causing the minivan driver to lose control, leave the road and strike the car, whose driver was not hurt, police said.
