Juveniles rob four men

YOUNGSTOWN

Four young men told police they were robbed by five or six male juveniles early Sunday as they stood by the back steps of a house at 1625 Fifth Ave. on the city’s North Side.

Although the crime did not occur on its campus, Youngstown State University sent a text alert to the university community that said some of the victims were YSU students.

The victims, all in their 20s, who reside in Youngstown, Pittsburgh and Sharon, Pa., said they saw the juveniles approaching in all-black attire with most of their faces covered, and heard one of them cock a handgun while walking toward the victims at 3:52 a.m.

The robbers demanded the victims turn over all their belongings, taking identification cards and $480 in cash from one victim, $18 from another and cigarettes from a third victim.

The juveniles punched two of the men in their heads several times, with one victim suffering a bloody mouth and several loose teeth, but both men refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police searched for but were unable to locate or identify the suspects, who the victims said fled east on Crandall Avenue.
