YNDC seeking candidates for VISTA positions

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. is seeking candidates for two AmeriCorps VISTA positions that begin in November.

The Volunteers in Service to America members will strengthen YNDC’s ability to engage residents in setting citywide neighborhood planning priorities and developing comprehensive neighborhood plans to guide reinvestment.

They will develop strategies for conducting neighborhood planning engagement activities, training neighborhood leaders to produce action-oriented neighborhood groups, and mobilizing residents for neighborhood action.

VISTA members will work to establish strong relationships between neighborhood leaders, city officials, key stakeholders and YNDC. By working closely with neighborhood leaders, they will improve their ability to conduct outreach for neighborhood improvement projects.

They also will produce a series of guide documents that will serve as a road map to strengthen the long-term capacity of YNDC and bolster its ability to engage residents in setting the course for the revitalization of their neighborhoods.
