'Awesometown' Community Fun Day is Oct. 6

AUSTINTOWN

An “Awesometown” Community Fun Day will be celebrated from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. next Sunday, with events offered in Austintown school district’s newly developed campus at 700 S. Raccoon Road.

The event will feature musical performances and entertainment, children’s activities, basket raffles, small business expo, fundraising meals, classic-car show, dedication ceremony and an open house of the new Austintown school buildings, closing celebration and a veteran’s memorial dedication.

A free bus shuttle service from Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave., will be available from noon to 8 p.m.

The schedule and location of events for the celebration are:

9 a.m., Toddler trot, Fitch Stadium.

9:30 a.m., One mile Fun Walk/Run, Fitch Stadium.

10 a.m., 5K Race, Fitch Stadium.

8 a.m.-noon, pancake breakfast, Austintown Middle School.

9-9:30 a.m., Watch an artist during the pancake breakfast, Austintown Middle School.

11 a.m.-3 p.m., small-business expo, Austintown Senior Center; food sales, basket raffles, Fitch High School.

Noon-3:30 p.m., Car show with music by DJ Crazy Dave, Fitch High School parking lot near the fitness center.

1-4 p.m., Spaghetti dinner, Austintown Middle School.

1-1:30 p.m., Building dedication, Austintown Elementary School and Austintown Intermediate School parking lot.

1:30-3:30 p.m., Farmers market, Austintown Intermediate School; food show, Austintown Elementary School.

1:30-4:30 p.m., open houses, AES/AIS; Touch a Vehicle, transportation department parking lot; school bus safety class, AES/AIS parking lot.

1:30-4:30 p.m., various entertainment, Fitch Auditorium. 1:30-2:15 p.m., Everyday America (Sugarland Tribute); 2:30-3 p.m., AMS Jazz Band; 3-3:30 p.m., AIS Choir; 3:30-4 p.m., AMS Chorale; 4-4:30 p.m., RoCCK Children’s Choir.

4:30-5 p.m., Live falconry show, Fitch Stadium.

5 p.m., Veteran’s dedication and closing ceremony, Fitch Stadium.
